Recently, Elon Musk, faced with the proposal to buy Twitter, defended total freedom of expression in the application, opposing any regulation that impedes free expression.
Defending total freedom seems contradictory to the stance adopted in previous interviews where he proposes regulation warning that they are moving not fast enough to make it happen in time of a major irreversible issue.
According to Elon Musk, AI may be used to spread fake information.
What would Twitter come to having total freedom?
So I asked Elon Musk over Twitter:
"You've said that AI shall comply with surveillance and that it may start a war by generating fake emails and news.
Total twitter freedom too.
It seems a contradiction.
Two similar things and two different approaches.
Please, tell us the difference. Could you?"
His main statement is that things that pose a threat to humanity shall be regulated.
If AI must be regulated, why information over social media, in general, should not, since the former is just a spreading vector of the latter?
And If Twitter were used as bad propaganda making use of its total freedom???
We are talking about thousands of people working systematically to achieve a target using faking information.
Knowing that Elon Musk has a prodigious memory, he certainly knows what he has said in the past and therefore leads us to believe that being aware of what he does leaves room for us to believe that perhaps the policy he promised it is part of his strategy to buy the social media platform.
Or not?! :-)
Either way, that doesn't detract from his value as an entrepreneur and human being, but it certainly makes it clear that he could be acting like politicians in general.
Two weights and two measures.
"A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on."
John F. Kennedy (1917-1963)
